CANTICLE
MEDUSA’S HEAD
Part of the burned list, Medusa’s head scoured voyeuristic peninsulas, an anodyne slot, an anti-
symbol of the offerings best left to the impenetrable forensics of chaos; not as now transformed,
but as rhizomatically imprisoned, corresponding largely to our “maze”: A tyrannical tangle of
roots, entwined and loose, yet tightly set as a labyrinth of the worlds betwixt themselves. They
have cried violently and passed into silence by the lights in the southern eye of a rabid priest’s
slumber.
Rhizomes—these laden stems, grow and spread without end or edge. Web of life, a dead coin
infesting its own corruption; a jutting of slim, corrugated hearts within cubes of a hardened
braille interior—they flow out, in, between, amongst, and beyond.
AND the sad twitch of the monstrously large jellyfish, once feared and hated, is now akin to
union and well-lit corridors spun nicely into fumigated pipes of dearth, as undiminished
testaments to the alcohol that tilts these blackened robes into sour corners, and drags them
along the backs of sleek, deadly snakes with a reminder of the Medusa’s head beneath the rails
of the lids of a rabid priest’s empty slumber.
The rhizomes lurch listlessly without any dread: Answer Orestes in the pale forest of quitting
flame! Tamed and unfounded, but wild to the worlds that have been snatched greedily from our
encumbered hands, the rabid priest’s mind is castrated by uncountably smooth orbs of finely
rotating syllables.
